What To Listen To Now // June

Oh hey there, stranger!  Lest you think I have opted for an early retirement, I figured it a good idea to stop in before the weekend and let you know that, no, I have not fallen off the face of the earth and, yes, I did take on quite the enormous styling job which monopolized most of my time over the last two weeks.  Not only was I missing in action these last few days, but I was sitting on this gem of a playlist from Matt Mugford without the time to publish it!  It is soooooo good!  Besides  listening to these tunes on repeat, I am plotting ways to make this an extra special weekend with my tiny little family.  We are thinking about checking out the jazz night at LACMA tonight with friends and of course there is our Sunday farmers market tradition.  I am really trying to be better about meal planning for the week, so that I can buy most of my ingredients there, but some weeks are more successful than others.  Any recipes you're loving lately?  Happy listening and wishing you an extra happy weekend!

The Chemical Brothers - Go
The energy of this song is so fun. I was playing it in the backyard the other day with my son Nash (who is 1 ½) and he was dancing around and at the end he let out a big "GO!!!". It was pretty rad. When the beat drops in on the second verse! YES! So funky. Love this guy.

Straight synth-pop jam. Nice little generic summer hook for your BBQ.

Cut Ribbons - Clouds
I just love the intro of this song. The rest is cool too, but the intro...and when it comes back after the dreamy chorus. So good.

Kings Of Leon - Pyro
I don't know if this is really old enough to be considered a throwback all-time fav, but I just came across it again and was reminded how much I love this song. The first time I ever saw King Of Leon they were opening for U2 and i HATED them. Just didn't get it live. Then I went back and listened to their records and started to get it a little more. Then they became MASSIVE and were on the radio every second, so what do I know?? Either way, I got on board (and will still argue that they weren't that good live back then) and this song packs a nice little emotional punch to it. When that last chorus comes in big, it feels real nice.
