What are your thoughts on January? If I'm being totally honest, once Christmas has passed and we've rung in the new year I'm kind of just waiting one spring. Although there is Valentines Day to look forward to and the opportunity to snuggle into all of those wintery clothes we just picked up at 60 % off, thanks to those post-Christmas sales. Oh and there's this playlist, too. Geez, Matt. It's so good. It's like you captured the essence of that "go get 'em tiger!" spirit that we're all high on right now after the new year. Speaking of, this playlist is so good that it will probably help you accomplish all of your resolutions. Especially if your resolution is to listen to good music. Anyhow, happy listening and happy weekend, friends!
Mark Ronson + Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk
I can't think of a better way to start the new year.
Hey Rosetta! - Kintsukuroi
I didn't know what the word meant so I googled it (naturally)...and according to wiki it is "the Japanese art of fixing broken pottery with lacquer resin dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum". Pretty cool concept and makes for interesting art...and a good song!
D'Angelo - Sugah Daddy
NEW D'ANGELO ALBUM!! Only took about 15 years!! Geeeeze.
Koven - Let Go
Seems like a nice little moody song until about 2:30 when it turns into something entirely different. I love when a song jumps your expectations like that.
Theophilus London ft. Kanye West - Can't Stop
Theophilus London is, in my opinion, one of the most underrated artists in music today. His stuff is always interesting and unique, but solid and catchy. Get with it people!
Aqualung ft. Lianne La Havas
Holy Moly! I'm dead.
Brandi Carlile - Wherever Is Your Heart
Her voice is unreal. Go listen to her other stuff and be blown away.
Catfish and the Bottlemen - Homesick
A little pop-rock never hurt anyone. Digging this band right now.
Gallant - Jupiter Grayscale
Sometimes it's best to just chill out a bit.
Tor Miller - Headlights
Took me a couple listens to get used to his voice, but now I'm hooked. The emotion behind it is truly great.
Nao - Good Girl
It's alllllllll good.
ELEL - 40 Watt
Love the melody/hook on this.
Matt's All Time Fav's:
Acceptance - Permanent
I started to go down a Spotify rabbit hole of music I was into in college and came across this little known band who I had become quite fond of back then. Not sure whatever happened to them, but I remember jamming this song in my Honda Civic quite a bit back in the day. It might be a little emo, but I'm glad I happened upon it again.
