Take the Stress out of the Holidays

Dec 16, 2015 ·

Taking-The-Stress-Out-Of-The-Holidays-1

Last December, Parker was an 8 month old babe on the move and I decided to approach the holiday season exactly like I had in years past.  I hand addressed and mailed over 150 holiday cards.  We hosted a big family Christmas party complete with our favorite Santa Claus and I also threw a holiday party for our TEC team here.  By the end of it all I was beyond drained! Never again.  Instead, this year I had a Tasker from TaskRabbit come over last weekend and take care of the bulk of my to-do list for me.  It meant that everything got done, and I got to spend more quality time with Parker baking cookies and celebrating this most magical time of year!  Best. Decision. Ever.  Here's how it all went down:

You go online to TaskRabbit and choose your Tasker based on the tasks you would like to have done.  Taskers can do anything from putting together furniture and painting rooms to waiting in long lines for you and doing deep cleaning or organizing.  Your Tasker can arrive within minutes (depending on availability) or you can schedule them for a date in the future.  They're already vetted for you and you can also read reviews on their page to see how other people enjoyed their services.  My Tasker was Kim and she was amazing!  It was so interesting to talk to her about working with TaskRabbit.  She loves it so much that she quit her other job and now does it full time! She stays busy and gets to choose exactly the kind of work she wants to do.  Here's what I had her help me with last weekend:Taking-The-Stress-Out-Of-The-Holidays-3

For starters, gift wrapping!  It's always a task I love until I'm 10 gifts in and then it starts to feel a lot less enjoyable.  I started wrapping gifts the previous week with a toddler who was very interested in the beautiful sparkly paper (can't blame her!) and I quickly realized it wasn't going to happen!  That's where Kim came in!

She finished quicker than I anticipated and then started on a deep clean of the kitchen.  I'm not talking just doing the dishes.  She made our appliances spotless inside and out and got our pantry and cabinets into tip-top organized shape!  We are hosting a holiday party this weekend, so it feels so nice to start our spree of entertaining with a perfectly prepped and squeaky clean kitchen.

This post was sponsored by TaskRabbit.  I would highly recommend hiring a Tasker this holiday season to help you with anything from cooking, decorating, wrapping, waiting or addressing those never ending holiday cards!

Hi Cheetah! Yes, this job definitely has it's perks! Behind every perk and paid post, though, are dozens of posts that we have done for no other reason than our own enjoyment and the hope that others will enjoy and value them too. Hopefully if anyone out there is feeling overwhelmed this holiday season, they will find this service helpful like I did. We never promote brands or services that we don't truly love and would use ourselves. We turn down over a dozen of opportunities every month for this very reason.
