Style Me Pretty Living

Jul 19, 2013 ·

SMPL Jen Pinkston

Our home is a constant work in progress.  When we bought it a year a half ago, we had about enough furniture to fill up one room, so we have slowly but surely been putting it all together, piece by piece.  When Kimberly Genevieve emailed me this spring to say that she wanted to shoot it for Style Me Pretty Living, I was a little hesitant at first.  It has been such a labor of love and what if no one liked it?  On the other hand, I absolutely adore SMPL and couldn't help, but say yes!  So, without further ado, be sure to check out the full post and interview!  Below are some outtakes and the shopping guide for all of my favorite pieces...

Living-Room

Our entire house is an eclectic  mix of pieces from an eclectic mix of stores.  I can find something just about anywhere and fall in love with it!  How great is this jewel-cut lamp from Lamps Plus?  This living room is where we are most likely to sit down with friends and enjoy conversation or a pre-dinner cocktail.  I tried to create a space that was slightly more formal than our family room by adding metallic finishes and pops of gold.

On the other hand, our family room was designed to be as cozy and warm as possible!  This is the room that I come home and sink into after a long day or blog from on a Sunday afternoon.  When we were designing this sectional with Amy, comfort was our number one priority.  It was the same when were choosing the rug-- I wanted something I could sink my toes into like this Moroccan shag rug from Rugs USA.

I am new to your site and I couldn't have started with a better post! Your style is so effortless and thoughtful. I am particularly hoping you may need someone to take over your family room someday (I would be more than happy to sleep on a couch! LOL)
Loved all your answers to the questions too.
