When it comes to personal style, it is very quite possible to wake up one day feeling as preppy as Blair Waldorf on the steps of the Met and to wake one day later ready to channel your inner east side hipster. It doesn't mean that you don't have a clear sense of personal style or multiple personality disorder, it means that you-- like many women across the globe-- like to have fun with your closet. That's one thing that clothes have over furniture. Both are fun to buy and aesthetically transformative, but one costs considerably less (usually) than the other, so if a white boho fringe top at Madewell is calling your name, you know what you do? You buy it. And then you style it in lots of different ways, as the mood strikes.
