My Style // Leather Jacket for The Office

I used to think that the biggest temptation this time of the year were the sweet treats being passed around at every turn, but now the older and wiser me realizes that the real temptation is shopping for yourself while checking off that holiday list.  Am I right?  How are we supposed to resist all of these sales?!  I know you think I've totally digressed, but the reason I bring up the subject is that this leather jacket is actually one such purchase and I have to say that I have no regrets. It's one of those wardrobe staples that you'll wear time and time again for years to come.  (You can check out this post if you're in the market!)  It's easy to throw on with jeans and a tee on the weekend or over a short flirty dress in the summer, but making it work for the office can be a bit tricker.  Here's how:

Choose a more conservative silhouette to go underneath like this long-sleeve midi dress.  It assures colleagues that you aren't rolling in to work in last night's concert attire.  Another fool-proof way to go would be a collared shirt tucked into a pencil skirt-- always a classy choice!  Keep the shoes elevated and dressy.  Since a leather jacket can be perceived as a more casual piece, you'll want to juxtapose it with nicer elements like a great strappy sandal and fun jewelry.
