Tomorrow is a big day. We are heading to Austin for my little sis's wedding which means Parker will be boarding her first flight! I'm excited, Aaron's anxious, and who knows how this little bug is going to do. It won't be her last flight though, so fingers crossed she has an innate affinity for life at 10,000 feet. Once we arrive it will be a jam-packed few days of festivities and visiting with family. Oh, and did I mention it's going to be a gazillion degrees? This look is a version of my summer uniform-- cool, summer dress for the hot, summer weather and chunky heels that I can wear all the live long day. And, of course, a hat to top it off.
This midi dress is a bit of a departure from my usual shorter ones. It's named because the hemline hits at the mid-calf and was a wildly popular style in the 1940s, a decade know for it's elegance in womenswear. While the style waned in popularity in coming decades (hello, sixties mini skirts!), it's been making a come back in the past couple of years. Swap out your current favorite maxis for midis for a look that's much fresher.
While my hemlines might be changing, my approach to accessories is still the same; less is more. A skinny belt, straw hat, gold ring, and a leather bag round out this simple summer day time look.
I'm off to finish packing. Wish us luck!
