It's Live! Our Very First Product Collaboration is Available Now!

Today is the day! I am so proud of this collection and so excited to tell you all about it! We have been working behind the scenes for the past eight months to bring you our very first product collection in collaboration with Artemis Design Co! There are two different styles—a kilim sandal and a kilim mule. Each pair is crafted out of one of two vintage kilim rugs and therefore completely unique! I spent hours upon hours over five months digitally sifting through vintage rugs before we settled on two color ways that had just the right color combinations and just the right stripe widths. This is the kilim sandal and it's so good! Since it arrived I've been wearing them with everything! They're just as perfect with denim shorts and a tee as they are with a great summer dress! (I'm wearing my usual size here, but if you're between two sizes, I would say go with the larger size.)

Here’s a little back story of the last eight years and how this collection came to be. Depending on how long you’ve been a reader here, you might already know some of this story. I started this blog in 2011 while styling, having recently left a television gig of four years. It was a hobby that I loved for a couple of years, made a small amount of money for another couple, and then by 2015 was lucrative enough to be my sole job. 2015 was such an exciting year. The ability to create the editorial content that I love and work with brands on big partnerships was a dream come true. The business has grown each year since.

By the end of 2016, 5.5 years into blogging, I found myself looking for the next thing. Not something to take the place of blogging, but looking for the next way to grow the business and honestly just to grow what I was capable of. I was looking for a challenge and an opportunity to learn something new while bringing value to what I was already doing here and value to all of you who take the time to come here every day and come along for this ride.

In early 2016 a book deal came and went and I knew that I wasn’t excited enough about that for it to be the next thing. Deep down I knew I wanted to do products, to create something tangible and tactile, but I had a lot of doubts. I’m not a designer by training or by trade. I entertained the idea of going back to school, but I knew that really wasn’t the right (or necessary) path.

With the completion of this collection, though, and another one due the end of September, I know now that what I uniquely bring to the table in creating products is years of scouring store after store as a wardrobe stylist to find the perfect piece. I know my aesthetic, what resonates with me and what has always resonated with you here on this site. I appreciate attention to details, wearability, and pieces that are timeless and I hope that comes through with this collection and with every future collection!
