DIY // Gilded and Glittered Decorated Pumpkins
Ingredients
- Pumpkin
- Brilliant Gold Spray Paint
- Spray Adhesive
- Martha Stewart Fine Gold Glitter
- Stencils of your choice
- Contrast Color Spray Paint of your choice. We used Matte Black.
Instructions
- Place pumpkin on newspaper, cardboard, or other surface that you wouldn't mind getting paint on.
- Cover pumpkins in gold spray paint. Get at least 12" away when spraying and keep the coats thin. Allow to dry.
- Place your stencil onto the pumpkin and tape down the edges gently with painters tape. Depending on your spray paint, the tape may or may not remove the paint also, so test it first on the back or underside. If paint comes up, you may need to allow it to dry, or you can wear gloves and hold the stencil.
- Spray pumpkin stem with spray adhesive and immediately shake gold glitter onto stem until covered.
- Allow all paint and adhesive to dry, then shake/blow off extra glitter from stem.
These DIY gold pumpkins are a great way to embellish your home this Halloween. These decorated pumpkins are easy and fun to make and are a real statement peace. Use them to brighten your front porch or as stylish interior decor.
I am fully committed to fall right now. All I want is some chilly weather, cable knit sweaters, and pumpkin flavored everything! This past weekend I moved all of my summer clothes out of my closet and made room for my favorite fall jackets and sweaters. Yesterday I decided it was time to bring a little fall to our home and broke down and bought pumpkins. I'm not even sure they will be in very good shape by the time halloween rolls around, but I don't mind. Every time I pull into the driveway now they make me giddy!

Stylish Halloween Decorating
Halloween decor doesn't mean your home has to be plastered in orange and black throughout or have cardboard ghosts hanging from every door frame! Decorating pumpkins is a great way to keep things classy and chic but still fun and in the spirit! I went for gold for my pumpkins, but you can use whatever colors you fancy and fit in with your aesthetic.
Ways to use these decorated pumpkins
These pumpkins are perfect for indoor and outdoor use. Use large pumpkins to stencil your house number on to and place them on your front porch, along with other pumpkins with playful words like 'boo' and 'spooky'. I like using several different sized pumpkins to create a centrepiece for fall feasts!
Top Tips to Make Gilded and Glittered Decorated Pumpkins
- Be sure to cover the area where you are spray painting with lots of newspaper or cardboard.
- Spray the pumpkins outside or in a well ventilated room.
- Let the pumpkins dry fully before applying the stencils.
- For a cohesive look, I like to glitter the stems the same color as the pumpkin, but you could try contrasting colors!
