DIY // Embellished Necklines with Anthropologie!

Aug 14, 2013 ·

The-Effortless-Chic-Nouveau-Neckline-DIY-4

The Friday before last, we packed up our crafting bags over here and headed down to the sunny Orange County coast to host our first DIY event for Anthropologie at their Newport Beach store.  Let's be honest, only Anthropologie could get us to brave 405 traffic on a Friday afternoon!  The DIY was such a hit that we wanted to share it with all of you as well.  Ready to get crafting?  Here's what you will need:

  • Jewelry Pliers ( Available here and a host of other places!)
  • Stones or studs of your choice.  I prefer ones that adhere with metal prongs to avoid messy or chemical-laden glues.  I shopped ours out in the fashion district in downtown LA.  (Studs available here or match prong settings with your favorite gems)
  • A t-shirt, sweater, dress, or any other wardrobe piece that you would like to work on.  (Note: T-shirts that are made of extremely thin cotton can me a little tricky!)

STEP 1:  Organize your gems or studs and create a design for your piece.

STEP 2: Lay the piece you are using on a flat surface to work.

STEP 3: Push the metal prongs of your stud or gem setting through the front of your piece to the back so that the prongs are sticking out on the underside of the piece.

STEP 4:  With your jewelry pliers bend each of the metal prongs down towards the center.  Don’t be shy!  They won’t break.  The tighter you can fold them, the more secure they will stay.

And, voilà!

Stay tuned for images from our event!  (Ps.  You can find my dress here!)
