Have you ever put together an entire outfit based on a small detail, say a pair of earrings? If so, then you will appreciate that this entire cocktail and tabletop was inspired by these gold animal stir sticks! A gilded alligator floating above some sweet fruity bubbly, what could be better? The sweet fruity bubbly is something I have dubbed the Cherry Temple or The Grown-Up Shirley Temple and is a lovely combination of extra dry champagne, fresh cherries, St. Germain (because everything is better with St. Germain), Rose's grenadine, and a splash of lime. Not to mention the perfect cocktail for a mellow brunch with friends, and much more unexpected than your typical mimosa I might add! Much like the cocktail, the tabletop is a combination of many of my favorite things: gold hardware, black and white stripes, bright pops of color, and pattern play. I love how the sophisticated gold plates look juxtaposed against the bold and graphic stripes. All of the pieces come together to create a look that is elegant and casual at the same time and absolutely effortless chic.
I love all of the fun things we found at West Elm for this one! I used these large dinner plates as chargers for these gold plates. I am obsessed with the platinum rim of these glasses, not to mention the laquer tray that they are perched on. The mercury vases come in all different sizes and are available here.
SPIKED SHIRLEY TEMPLE RECIPE //
For 2 cocktails, combine 2 ounces of grenadine with 12 ounces of champagne, 2 ounces of St. Germain and a splash of lime juice! Fill the glass with plenty of fresh cherries!
