{Tangerine Pomegranate Cooler or The Uptown Screwdriver}
After spending the better part of last week in white linen and bikinis on the beach, I found myself craving a silky dress and a cocktail with the husband this weekend. Rather than go out, we invited a couple of friends over for a quiet and low-key backyard fete. The dress part of the equation was a no-brainer-- this little Diane von Furstenberg number is my first fall purchase and, while a bit premature, I couldn't wait to put her to good use!
While I am always up to try a new cocktail recipe ,no matter how odd the ingredient combination, my husband tends to be a creature of habit in this arena; he will only drink screwdrivers! Not one to be deterred by a challenge, I set out to invent a cocktail that he couldn't resist and I do believe I did succeed! Without further ado ladies and gents, I bring you, what I like to call, the Uptown Screwdriver:
The secret to this recipe is all fresh squeezed juice, especially the tangerines!
Ingredients (Makes 2):
(note: I know ounces are more commonly used in beverage making, but I prefer tablespoons-- hope you don't mind!)
¼ c. fresh squeezed tangerine juice
¼ c. vodka
1 tbls. pomegranate seeds
1 tbls. lime juice
½ tbls agave
¼ c. club soda, champagne, or Sprite Zero-- depending on if you want your cocktail less sweet, more sweet, or skinny.
ice
extra tangerines for garnishing
Directions:
In a cocktail shaker, muddle the pomegranate seeds with the agave. Add tangerine juice, lime juice, vodka and ice. Shake well. Pour over ice. Top each glass with 2 tablespoons of club soda/champagne/Sprite Zero. Garnish if you wish.

It is the easiest thing in the whole world! I use caruso steam rollers and then just touch it up with a curling or straightening iron.
