Where did I first fall in love with brocade?  The year was 2005 and the class was Advanced Textiles at the University of Texas.  In a sea of hundreds of fabric swatches, mostly plain weaves that were so incredibly similar, brocade would come leaping out of the page on exam day and make itself known.  Much unlike the cotton percale, brocade wanted me to get an A.  It seems only right, then, that I will spend this fall paying homage to my favorite fabric since it was all over the runways and is now popping up in stores both high and low.  It is heavy and ornate and interesting and luxe; the antithesis to minimalism and a cheer in the direction of opulence.  Should you decide that you love brocade just as much as I do, you can get the look here.
