It’s Time for Another Vote || Our House Exterior

This house building thing has been such a process, I tell you, but I’m so glad we finally have more to share!  With a renovation like our LA house, there are so may constraints based on the existing architecture, the neighborhood and of course the budget.  When you’re starting from scratch, the options are somewhat limitless (except for budget of course), which can be super fun, but also like that dreaded open-ended writing prompt in your high school english class that left you wondering where to even begin!  (You can see our overall mood board here.) Well, we have begun and we are almost finished with all of the hard floor plan / exterior / interior choices (finishes to come!) but I would love your opinion on our current exterior options. Ready to check them out?!  I feel like this is a big reveal that should have like a red curtain or something! Here we go!

Thoughts? Favorites? I debated telling you guys what the price difference between the options was because I want to know your favorites without the price bias, but I will update this post by the end of the week with those details.

Inspiration Images Above || one || two || three || four

  1. I am leaning towards option 5. It looks so clean and crisp.

Hi Jen! I love #4 and #7! REALLY beautiful options. We just moved into our new house over the weekend so Im here to tell you there is light at the end of the house build tunnel. Quite a process, but when its done and its exactly what you envisioned for your little family- worth everything. 🙂 Enjoy! xxRachelle

Congrats on your move! When can we come photograph it?! 😉 I do so love the wood details of 4 so much!

  3. I like number 3 best. I love the light stucco, it’s so refreshing and clean and with some greenery in the landscaping next to it, it would be very pretty. The top left inspiration photo is my fave so #3 looks the most like that one. 😉

#5 – Makes a statement but stays in the md-range on tone combo

  5. Oh or #6 is similar too! I like that one too.

Good eye! The only difference in 3 and 6 is the stucco soffit vs. the wood soffit. I really like these clean and simple versions too!

  6. Absolutely beautiful Jen!!! How exciting! I am leaning towards option 2. I like the color & texture contrast of the dark gray hardie plank and the light stucco. AND… the warm wood soffit & warm wood entry wall up against the dark gray… oh my goodness..I love it!!

Since they all have the planks by the front door in a medium color I like the versions that have some darker color on the right side (i.e.: not 4 and 6). I feel like it balances your house better and doesn’t leave you with a dark half and a light half. Love the clean minimalist lines!

Yes that’s a very good note! The contrast is kind of nice.

  8. #4 or #5

  9. I like 2 and 5!

I think the 2nd is my favourite, but the 7th is a close second.

So yes to contrast! I think that seems to be the overall consensus!

Too difficult to choose! However, I really like the garage door option in #1.

Yes, isn’t that cool? Our architect drew it that way but we are still trying to figure out if someone can make it that way / how expensive it would be.

I love the wood detail of #4, but maybe with the dark grey, horizontal plank garage door to add some more contrast. #2 is my second pick! I feel like the colors are well-balanced, and I like the variety of textures of that one.

Oh that’s a good idea! I hadn’t even thought about swapping the garage door.
      Thanks, Lauren!

  13. What an exciting journey to be on! #4 , #7 and #2 stand out to me as the most visually appealing color/texture contrast wise! Best of luck 🙂 xo

Love all of these options except 3 & 6. I have stucco on my house and I like the idea of being able to change the color with the style.
