Treats for your Sweet

I have a major sweet tooth.  If I didn’t have more self control I could easily forego major meals and head straight to dessert.  Aaron’s a pretty smart guys so it didn’t take him long to discover that the way to my heart was through cookies, cakes, and other delectable confectioneries!  Have any free time on your hands this weekend?  Nothing says you I love you like a delicious made-from-scratch dessert that you made all yourself!  Here are five that … +more

Two Birds, One Scone

You know the saying, bad things come in groups of threes?  Well, apparently it applies to cooking.  It all began when I stumbled upon this beautiful image and recipe on Pinterest.  The beautiful colors and detail made me completely forget that I don’t even really like gnocchi.  I went to the market, bought the ingredients, dirtied just about every dish and pan in my kitchen only to end up with a sticky, lumpy mess.  It was not pretty.  (Aaron swears … +more

Mini Lemon Tarts

Today’s sweet treat is brought to you by Rachel over at Tickle Me Sweet.  I met her quite a few months ago on a photo shoot and had no idea she was such a talented baker until recently.  Of course as soon as I made that discovery I pleaded and cajoled until she agreed to share one of her tasty recipes with us here! (So maybe, there wasn’t a whole lot of cajoling going on, but I would have

Strawberry Tart

When our CSA box arrived last week chock full of strawberries, I wasn’t the least bit surprised.  The central coast must just be in full strawberry swing because it was the the third week in a row that they were in our box.  Now don’t get me wrong, I love strawberries!  But after three weeks of strawberry smoothies, strawberries in our salads, and snacks of fresh strawberries, I figured it was time to do something a litte different so I … +more

Springtime Trifle

Can you hardly believe your eyes?!  When I opened these images from Eva over at Miss Renaissance it was all I could do not to dash immediately out of the house and over to the market to get all of the ingredients for this springtime trifle.  I have been a fan of Eva’s blog for quite some time and thought it might be fun to have her teach us a recipe or two and she so kindly obliged.  I love … +more

{Birthday} Banana Spice Cake

You might want to be sitting down for this:  My husband is not a dessert person.

Crazy, right?  We are quite the pair because personally I can’t even imagine the horror of a world without dessert.  My birthday cake  had layers of marscapone and raspberry between perfect fluffy layers of moist vanilla bean cake and almond icing… yum!  Sadly, I knew this simply wouldn’t make the cut for Aaron so after much brainstorming I settled upon a banana spice cake … +more

popbar!

Have you heard of this place?  I was initially struck by how beautiful the images are of these artisanal creations-on-a-stick, but when I found out that they are made of rich, creamy gelato and then dipped in toppings galore it seemed to good to be true.  How cute would these be at a birthday party or 4th of July picnic? They just opened their first location in the West Village, but hopefully one will be popping up in LA soon! … +more

Meyer Lemon Bars

Our meyer lemon tree is literally the gift that keeps on giving!  I have always been more of a chocolate person when it comes to dessert but since my jar of lemon juice in the refrigerator was starting to get overly full, I figured it was time to try out a new sweet, lemony recipe.  Each little square is the perfect blend of sweet and sour and the buttery, flaky crust is the perfect complement!
