Hot Pink Lip

Lately, this has been my beauty mantra.  In the morning it’s a clean face, a little mascara, a bright pink lip and then out the door!  It all started a couple of weeks ago when I went to see my agent and left carrying an over-sized bag of CK1 cosmetics that she had been sent.  All of the make up artists had already picked theirs up so it was my lucky day!  I am unlikely candidate for a large amount … +more

What To Listen To Now

Happy Monday!  How were your weekends?  We shot a new Cocktail Hour post with photographer Melissa Valladares on Saturday morning that I can hardly wait to share with you guys next week!  I was glad to have plenty of festivities to attend this weekend with Aaron in New Orleans for the Super Bowl.  There were baby showers, dinner with a friend at a great little spot in our neighborhood, and a fabulous Super Bowl party hosted by my friend Kate. … +more

Windowpane

Oh how this print takes me back to my Textile 201 days at Texas in Gearing Hall!  I remember sitting there with my box of over a hundred tiny fabric swatches attached to 5 x 7 cards with all of their noted properties next to them.  ”Windowpane?  Really? Are we certain we shouldn’t just lump all of the plaids, glen plaids, checks, buffalo checks, and all of the other intersecting straight line patterns together?”  More than a few years late, … +more

What To Listen To Now

Why is it that we are always so impatient for the next season?  Here we are, just two weeks into January, and I’m already daydreaming of new summer dresses and daylight that lasts until 9pm.  In an effort to appreciate the present last week, I bought a new winter coat  and have been cooking with all of the seasonal ingredients I imagine I will miss when the weather turns warm.  (Butternut squash, anyone?)  I also thought it was … +more

Color Palette {Lilac}

Happy Monday!  How were your weekends?  It has been freezing (literally!) here in LA the past few days, so we laid pretty low over the weekend.  We visited a couple of our favorite shops and coffee spots and I tried out some new recipes in the kitchen.  With all of this cold, gray weather, I’m finding  the best way to beat the winter blues is with a little bit of color.  Not the bold punch that we grew so … +more

Chambray, Two Ways!

True story:  I just bought the first chambray shirt of my adulthood a couple of weeks ago.  I know, I know.  It’s only been popular for what, the last five years? It’s not that I haven’t wanted one.  Other than the $78 J. Crew pricetag, I’m honestly not sure exactly what was holding me back.  In retrospect, considering how much I have worn it these last two weeks, I would have spent twice as much!  It is seriously the most … +more

Top 10 Albums of 2012

Happy new year’s eve!  Do you have big plans for the evening?  Aaron and I are jumping on a plane this afternoon to spend the night celebrating with friends up in San Francisco!  Seeing as it is a day for top lists, we asked our resident music supervisor, Matt Mugford to give us his favorite albums of the year.  Some of them made it into these playlists over the last couple of months and some of them I am listening … +more

Perks of being a Wallflower

Has anyone else seen the movie yet?  Yowza!  It’s happy, sad, encouraging, depressing, beautiful, and wonderful all at the same time.  The music is fantastic, the wardrobe is so 90s and fabulous, and the cast is each extremely talented.  In a more literal sense of the phrase, have you noticed how may editorials are being shot up against floral pattern backdrops lately?  I really love this extreme sense of pattern play.  The nature of the flowers give the image a … +more
