Mixed Prints with Hayneedle

Ginghams and stripes and florals, oh my!  Most of you know me well enough by now to know that I love a good pattern-play ensemble.  If you need proof, I give you exhibit A.  Lately, I have observed so many of my wardrobe tendencies slowly appearing in the way I design the rooms in our house.  There is a diamond rug / polka dot pillow situation happening right now in our living room that makes me giddy!  When Hayneedle asked … +more

Art Deco Living

It’s no secret that Art Deco design lingers at the top of our (Caitlin & Caitlin) favorites list—we both live in Deco era buildings and one of us even has a pet named after the style! But what better time to celebrate the swanky, vibrant rage of the roaring 20’s (then 30’s and 40’s!) than with The Great Gatsy debuting this weekend?

As so beautifully demonstrated in the ads for the movie, Art Deco is an eclectic style that meshes … +more

Vibrant Vignettes

The other day I was flipping through Elle Decor, ogling some pretty chic spaces, and having major interior style envy.  My favorite photos are always those detail shots of some perfectly put together shelf or nook.  When done correctly, these vignettes balance the perfect amount of color and pattern without looking overly busy, and the perfect amount of items as to not look cluttered.  Since I was swooning madly for this particular styled set up, I decided to break it down … +more

5 Under $25 / Pretty Prints

Does anybody else suffer from empty wall syndrome?  We are having our house photographed for a popular shelter site next month, so I am currently on a mission to cure our wall art woes!  Art can be pricey, though, so it’s nice to mix big statement pieces in with smaller ones from lesser known, but equally talented artists.  These 5 prints would make the perfect addition to a gallery wall or could stand along nicely in their own small nook. … +more

Spell It Out

Lately I have found myself trying to soak up every last minute of spring.  From farmers market shopping for the latest produce that’s in season (the grapefruits lately have been incredible!), to getting my hands on all of these wildflowers that are popping up!  My favorite thing about using wildflowers is that they’re supposed to be wild.  No perfectly placed dahlias and ranunculus here, just pops of irreverent bright color and stems in all directions.  If you’re not that comfortable … +more

Watercolors

Happy spring! Over at Caitlin & Caitlin, we’ve completely come down with the seasonal fever. LA is warm, the sunny days are now longer and the trees are flowering, making everything smell amazing. Mmm…jasmine!  So naturally, we’re obsessing on all things bright and poppy—but instead of bringing you the typical floral roundup that we’re so inclined toward this time of the year, we wanted to talk about a different trend we’re stoked on—watercolor.

What we’re loving about watercolor right now … +more
