Bon Voyage || Where Should We Go This Spring?

For all of our many differences, one thing that Aaron and I have always both loved is to travel.  We even differ by how we like to spend our vacations: Aaron likes to hike or climb to some unsafe point that makes me hold my breath and yell things at him, as well as take lots of photos.  I like to look up the best restaurants the city has to offer, wander in and out of small shops, and spend a good chunk of time in the city’s most interesting museums.  Luckily we’ve both gotten pretty good at doing both.  Aaron has some time off in the spring and we have made up our minds that there is most definitely a trip in our future. Now just to decide where to go?! Here’s what we are thinking… would love your ideas, too!

Sweden //

Did you know that 97% of Sweden is uninhabited?  It feels like the perfect combination of a place that has a lot of beautiful natural wonders to explore has well as a really creative design city in Stockholm.

Iceland //

Iceland has been on our list for a really long time. So many natural wonders!  Blue Lagoon looks insane, although I always wonder if it really looks like that or does it more closely resemble your neighborhood pool in August when the temperatures reach 100 degrees for the first time, over run  with people dying to take a dip.  It really feels like a place that would be such a great opportunity to unplug.

Amsterdam (It’s Tulip Season!) //

So we actually visited Amsterdam the very first summer after we started dating on a whim, but the tulips weren’t in bloom since it was summer and I have been dying to go back. Although, it kind of seems like a waste to head back to somewhere we have already  been! Has anyone been? Worth it?

Where else would you go?!

I have been to neither and both are on my list! So many places, so little time!

  2. I know you can get cheap flights to Iceland with their airline WOW. I’m so tempted to go myself.

  3. I am dying to go to Iceland. It has been on my list for 2 years now. New Zealand is also on my list. But I think you may have already gone to Australia?! I have been to Amsterdam during tulip season. We went to the Keukenhoff gardens where the tulips are only blooming for a few months. It is beautiful, don’t get me wrong. And I love Amsterdam, But if you have already been to Amsterdam I would probably go somewhere else. But that is just me. Either way, can’t wait to see where you guys go.

Ya, that’s kind of what I’m thinking too, re: amsterdam. We have been to Australia, but never to New Zealand! My friend just visited and her photos have me dying to go now!

Eeek! So excited… and having such a hard time choosing!

  5. I haven’t been to Iceland, but if you ever needed a travel buddy, I would go in a heartbeat! Haha! It’s been on my travel list as long as I can remember.. A friend went there in the summer, and she said it was perfect hiking weather, but winter would also be incredible!

Thailand is also on my list!!

Also, how fun that you and Aaron have different travel personalities, but still love going together! That’s perfect, because then you end up covering more ground!

Thailand was one of my favorite trips we’ve ever done! It’s funny because even within the countries we have our favorite cities. In China his was Beijing and mine was Shanghai. In Thailand mine was Phuket and his was Chaing Mai. As for countries, during our European backpacking adventure he loved Switzerland and Italy will forever have my heart!

Sweden, definitely do Sweden! I would love to go to Iceland as well. There’s actually a large Icelandic population here in Manitoba so a lot of people have been there or have family there. It’s a magical place, it’s definitely on my bucket list.

My boyfriend and I did Stockholm and Amsterdam trip in June 2015 and it was great. Stockholm is amazing but make sure to go when the days are longer! I also want to do a Croatia road trip where you get a mix of outdoor adventure, cities, and beaches!

Agreed! Croatia would be amazing! It looks like in April there is about 13-14 hours of daylight… hopefully that will be sufficient. We looked at Iceland in December and it was only 4!
