I find summer to be the perfect season for simplifying.  While it is all well and good to be able to fit your laptop, liter size water bottle, and an extra pair of shoes in your oversized roady bag, there is something really feminine and chic about a small cross body bag.  They transition more easily from day to night and are the perfect bag to take on vacation as you wil be less apt to end a day of sight seeing in need of a shoulder massage.  I usually board the plane with my larger bag as they are convenient for carrying on as much as humanly possible in lieu of having to wait around the dreaded baggage carousel, but I always have a smaller satchel tucked away in my suitcase for just this reason.  In the market?  Here are some of my favorites:
