Backstage at Lanvin

Alber Elbaz has held the key to my fantasy fashion heart for quite some time now.  It began somewhere six years ago when I  received my first pair of classic black ballet flats and proceeded to walk them into the ground and resole them three times.  He was further endeared to me last August with the release of this video, and now with his effortlessly elegant Spring 2013 collection he has really sealed the deal.  As if the clothes weren’t … +more

The Savvy Girl’s Guide…

If you pay attention to labels in the produce section like you do at Neiman’s Last Call, you’ve probably noticed that “Local”, “Seasonal”, and “Sustainable” have joined “Certified Organic” in the Necessity echelon of our Nutrition Scrutiny pyramid. And if you take the time to analyze the origins of your food, I’m guessing you might also agree that purebred fruits and veggies are worth the pinch in the pocket. So, having squared away that we are on the same page … +more

Color Palette: Oxblood

Sorry for the delay in posts this week, friends!  I spent this past weekend styling a music video that went into the wee hours of the evening Sunday and then went straight into a photo shoot yesterday.  Needless to say, it feels nice to be sitting here with a cup of coffee in hand and nowhere to be for another hour!  Today’s color palette is one of my favorites and by no means new.  Many designer collections have dabbled in … +more

Does anyone else go through phases with house projects?  After taking a few months off this summer from doing anything to the house, we have been on a roll lately.  While I was in New York last week, we had the concrete for our new driveway poured and this week I have been meeting with landscapers about hopefully starting some outdoor projects this fall.  Meanwhile, I have been taking stock of things going on indoors and the places that still … +more

The Savvy Girl’s Guide…

“Breaking bread is the oldest and best way to build relationships”, according to professional etiquette expert, Patricia Rossi. Have you flipped through her book, Everyday Etiquette: How to Navigate 101 Common and Uncommon Social Situations? If not, my dear, you are sorely missing out! This purse-worthy guide is something you should consider keeping within arms reach at all times. Seriously. The tip topics run the gamut from proper correspondence cards (thank you’s, RSVP’s, sympathy notes) to “Petiquette” (yep, etiquette … +more

If you wear it, it will come

Color Palette {Autumn}

How was everyone’s weekend?  While I spent the better part of Saturday and Sunday working, Aaron and I did make time for a dinner date Saturday night at E. Baldi.  We hardly ever go out in Beverly Hills, but it was recommended to us by a friend so we figured we would give it a try.  The food was AMAZING… and we were sitting next to Clint Eastwood so that was kind of fun and hollywood-y!  The … +more

Indian Summer {Street Style}

Anyone else out there in for another sultry weekend?  Instead of focusing on the 98 degree weather we are due for, I am trying to appreciate all of the great street style inspiration New York fashion week gave us for this indian summer we are having. Afterall, the street style is the best part of fashion week.  At any given moment, a perfectly styled editor can be seen subtly posing outside Lincoln Center, having cocktails at the Standard, or dining out … +more
