The Savvy Girl’s Guide…

By: Emily Westervelt

Be coy and let him come to you, or be cheeky and go up to him first? Would you rather risk letting the opportunity go by, or chance potential bruising to your ego? It’s a toughie.

  Approaching people you don’t already know can be intimidating, but going up to some hot tottie you pass in the scene then trying to give off the vibe that you’re interested all the while trying to be witty but still trying … +more

{Shoot} Summer in Bloom

The sight of new fall collections in stores rights now has me giddy for all things autumn.  However, I am trying to relish every last drop of summer because all too soon it will be gone and I will be dreaming of these hot balmy times complete with long sunshine-filled days, impromptu outdoor adventures, and last minute trips to the sandy shore (like yesterday’s trip to Malibu!)  I styled a shoot with Denise Crew recently that captured this feeling precisely– … +more

Vacation in {Charleston}

Two weeks ago today, Aaron and I were waking up in Charleston, South Carolina for the first time.  It may not be Bali or Tahiti, but it has been on my list of must visit places for quite some time.  Needless to say, I woke up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed the first morning, ready to see the sights!  Our day started with a walk to Hope & Union for a delicious morning latte, some shopping on King Street where, moved by … +more

Set in Concrete

As we approach the 9 month mark as homeowners, Aaron and I have started talking about what our plan is for outdoors.  We know we need to repave the driveway, have considered putting up a fence, and creating a new walkway, but there are just so many options and possibilities that is nearly impossible to make a decision that is going to be so, well, set in concrete to be exact.  This is where you come in:  Below are some … +more

Her Style {Alle}
I could not be more excited to introduce you all to this week’s Her Style gal!  Alle is one of my favorite people to work with when it comes to pulling clothes for styling jobs.  She is the principle at Bollare Communications– a fab beauty, fashion, and lifestyle public relations firm that is located here in LA, as well as on the east coast.  Not only is she super sweet, but she is also oh-so-stylish!  Every time I am in … +more

Cocktail Hour

{Tangerine Pomegranate Cooler or The Uptown Screwdriver}

After spending the better part of last week in white linen and bikinis on the beach, I found myself craving a silky dress and a cocktail with the husband this weekend.  Rather than go out, we invited a couple of friends over for a quiet and low-key backyard fete.  The dress part of the equation was a no-brainer– this little Diane von Furstenberg number is my first fall purchase and, while … +more

Date Night {Tapas}

Two summers ago Aaron and I were honeymooning in Spain when we first discovered tapas.  For two people who like to try everything on a menu it was a dream!  Most spanish guidebooks describe Tapas as light snacks or appetizers, usually served with drinks– a definition that does them no justice!  They are some of the most tasty small bites I have ever had and so much fun to order on a date.  We would order a couple here … +more
