Vacation in {Palm Springs}

Oh yes– this definitely happened last weekend!  Every year during our annual Palm Springs trip Aaron takes a photo like this of everyone before we leave.  Isn’t it fun?  This was last year’s.  While we vow not to leave the house for the 3 days that we are there, Palm Springs is a pretty fun town to adventure in for a weekend.  Brunch at the Parker, coffee at Espresso Cielo, and dinner at Copley’s won’t disappoint!  Just be sure to … +more

Avocado-Corn Salsa

I am having a major avocado moment right now.  Lately every avocado I cut into is perfectly ripe and delicious and I just can’t stop putting them in everything!  However, my favorite use for them has been this Avocado-Corn Salsa recipe from the cookbook that Aaron brought me back from his shoot at Miraval.  It is so tasty!  I originally made it with blue corn crab cakes– talk about delicious!– but last night I added it to halibut tacos … +more

The Savvy Girl’s Guide…

- From Cotton to Silk -

Ladies, we’ve got you cleaned!

I had a lovely chat with Meg McDonald, fabric maven at Mood Designer Fabrics, the world-famous fabric and notion shop in New York (and now in L.A.!) (You know, the one from Project Runway.)

The #1 Rule of Stains: Avoid heat of any kind.

It will “set the stain” and cause the spillage to fuse to your fabric – no hot water, no tumble-drying, and no ironing … +more

Cocktail Hour

{Grown-up Lemonade}

The weekend went by so fast didn’t it?  We rented a house in Palm Springs this weekend with 8 of our closest friends and spent the majority of the time lounging by the pool and catching up on life.  This was our second annual Palm Springs trip and it struck me at one point how much had happened in the single year that has elapsed since we were last there.  Two of our friends were now parents, we … +more

Hot Child, Summer in The City

Yowzas! Is it hot out or what?!  We are headed to Palm Springs this weekend where the temperatures are well into the triple digits which means the itinerary includes mostly pool time and icy beverages– sounds perfect right?!  My bag is packed with my favorite J. Crew denim shorts, a sundress or two and most importantly multiple swimsuits.  Speaking of swimsuits, I did a really fun swimsuit segment for the Bethenny show this week that airs today!  (Click here for … +more

Indoor / Outdoor Space

It’s true that old habits die hard.  When we were looking to buy our house, we spent every Sunday going through open house after open house… and I loved it!  We moved into our place last fall, but that hasn’t stopped me from visiting open houses–  only for inspiration!  This past weekend we came across a particularly great home.  The back wall of the home was floor to ceiling windows that folded away accordion style to connect the living room … +more

Her Style {Eva Daiberl}
Do you happen to remember this tasty, trifle piece we featured a few months ago?  Well I have since gotten to know the creator of that little delicacy, Eva Daiberl, even better and found that her fashion sense is just as on point as her cooking.  She was a natural choice to be our next Her Style lady!
Eva hails from Chicago and is a pastry chef, photographer, and the blogger behind Miss Renaissance.  Get cozy while we ask her +more

The Savvy Girl’s Guide…

What in the culinary world is more chic than the perfect olive oil?

Olive oil among friends, that’s what!  Begin with a few tablespoons of oil in a wine glass. Cup the glass with the palms of your hands then rotate it (as if you were prepping to taste wine) to swirl the slightly warmed contents. Cover the top with your other hand to hold the fragrance inside. Sniff three times, sip gingerly, wait a haute second, then breathe … +more
