{Evergreen}

I majorly have Christmas on my mind.  Yesterday I was driving all around town prepping for a big job this weekend and between the Christmas music on the radio and the decadent decorations at places like Neiman Marcus it is a wonder I could get any work done at all!  I just love this time of year.  Naturally, it seems, I have found myself gravitating towards all things in the shade of evergreen.  Can’t. Get. Enough.

(Apologies for the short … +more

Thanksgiving

I don’t know about you guys, but I went to sleep last night full and happy!  We celebrated Thanksgiving in our new house with Aaron’s family who came into town from Maryland.  It was a small little gathering of just 6 but absolutely perfect!  Roast chicken, green bean bundles wrapped with bacon, brussel sprouts with lemon olive oil and parmesean, roasted carrots and parsnips with honey, and mashed potatoes were all on the menu but my personal favorites were the … +more

Gwyneth’s Thanksgiving

“Thanksgiving is, without a doubt, my favorite holiday. I love when everyone comes together and celebrates the idea of gratitude, something we all mean to do every day, but seem to lose sight of most of the time.” -Gwyneth Paltrow

I figured since this week’s holiday gift guide centered around ‘The Hostess’ we might as well delve into how the quintessential hostess with the mostess, Gwyneth Paltrow, will be spending her Thanksgiving tomorrow.

Through her online newsletter, Goop, she gives … +more

Paris in the Fall

Because of our shooting schedules the past few years at the ellen show, our vacations always fall in June and July.  As amazing as a summer getaway is, I have found myself wondering what an unexpected European adventure would be like this time of year: the leaves changing colors, the warm comfort foods enjoyed amidst cold weather, and of course cozy knit scarves and sweaters!  Last week I made a recipe from Julia Child’s Mastering The Art of French Cooking+more

Caped Crusader

“I mean, first of all, let me say whichever superhero first came up with the idea of wearing a cape, he wasn’t really onto anything good. The number of times I’m treading on that damn thing or I throw a punch and it ends up covering my whole head. It’s really not practical.” -Christian Bale

I have to admit, I have never actually owned a cape.   However, my slight intrigue with these sleeveless wonders is growing into a serious … +more

Tartan
overallnatty

I love plaid and tartan in the cooler months, don’t you?  Nothing screams, “The holidays are coming, the holidays are coming!” like that first fall sighting of red and green uniquely woven together in opposite directions creating the pattern loved by scottish bag pipe players and punk rock teenagers alike.

Did you know that in the 19th century the type of tartan you wore in Scotland would let the world know which clan you were from?  Apparently the weavers in … +more
