Happy Friday!

Smile!  Its the weekend!

Is it just me or did September fly by?  In any case, October is in close pursuit bringing with it images of fall leaves, cozy fabrics like tweed and herringbone, and pumpkin patches all abuzz with people in search of the perfect specimen for carving.

I can’t help this time of year but to want to be in the kitchen cooking up all kinds of yummy fall flavors like these pumpkin whoopie pies or this bit … +more

Juicy Fruit
MaleneBirger

A common misconception is that bright colors are limited to the days following Memorial Day and preceding Labor Day.  Not so! It only takes one look at fall runways to put that little misnomer to rest!  Brights are everywhere– especially orange.  It is perfect as a bright accent to an otherwise neutral look, but also packs a punch in the form of a statement dress like the Malene Birger number above.

The New Stripe?
blakedots

Remember last Spring when you couldn’t turn the corner, walk into a store, or perhaps even open your closet without being met by some version of a Saint James sailor stripe tee?  Well the stripe has met its match, my friends.  Ever since Blake Lively graced the July cover of Glamour and was shot in this sheer Stella McCartney number, polka dots have been showing up everywhere.  The biggest shocker?  They are surprisingly chic this time around!

Camel

I don’t say this lightly, but I think that camel might be the most chic color of all of the colors!  It is so rich and pairs perfectly with a myriad of others: black, gold, gray, chocolate, navy… the list continues on and on.  It really is effortless chic.

If you are looking for an investment piece that you will have for years and years to come, the cashmere camel coat might be just what you are looking for.  Although, … +more

Happy Monday!

How were your weekends?  This weekend was full of seemingly mundane errands that were endlessly exciting for the hubs and I.  We went in search of the perfect hardwood floors for our possible new home that we are in escrow on and measured seat depths of multiple sofas to determine which was just right for the sectional that we are having made for our possible living room.  We also spent a significant amount of time looking at appliances … +more

Get the Look : Mad Men

Last week I was perusing the Warner Brothers Costume Shop for a job and meandered down the mens sixties aisle for no reason other than it is one of my most favorite of all of the aisles!  (And if you have ever been there, you know there are many aisles to choose from!)  As far as menswear is concerned I still love the skinny tie, small collar, and narrow lapel.  I love all of the mixed textures and patterns and … +more

Inspiration from Anna Sui

I am currently loving flipping through all of the backstage images from New York Fashion Week last week.  I love seeing the hair and make-up stories come together with the clothes and styling.  I especially loved this image from backstage at Anna Sui.  It feels like the kind of evening glamour that you don’t see very often anymore and reminds me so much of nights in Paris– The perfect inspiration for the upcoming holiday soiree season!
